The Marshall Democrat-News Pet Idol Official Rules

No purchase necessary. You must be 13 years of age or older to be eligible for this contest. This contest is void where prohibited by law.

Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.

Automated voting of any kind is not allowed. Detection of said automated voting will lead to votes being voided.

You may vote three times per 24 hour period. Votes will be tracked for each pet category and posted.

Photos submitted for the contest must be in good taste. This will be determined by The Marshall Democrat-News contest judge. Pet(s) entered must be living. Photos may be uploaded on the contest portion of The Marshall Democrat-News website, www.marshallnews.com for participation May 14 through June 12, 2012. Submit as many of your pets as you like with any one pet eligible to be submitted only once. Pet categories for photo submission are dogs, cats and other pets.

Submissions/pet owners must live within 50 miles of The Marshall Democrat-News to be eligible for the Pet Idol Contest.

All information must be filled out when uploading your pet(s) photo(s) to participate.

Winner in each of the three pet classes will be determined by the most number of votes received in each respective class. Voting will take place from June 13 through June 29, 2012.

“Pet Idol” will be selected by the most votes received for one single pet from each of the three pet classes. “Pet Idol” will be named July 3, 2012.

All results posted are unofficial until the winners respond to e-mail notification. Failure to respond to email notification within a 24 hour period will be considered a forfeit with the next highest vote getter in the category named winner. Winners will be announced July 3, 2012, with announced decision final.

Entrants further grant and agree to allow The Marshall Democrat-News the copyright to use and publish their pet entry as presented for means of promotion of the contest.

Each category winner by acceptance of the prize, agrees to release all sponsors and their parent and subsidiary companies, their officers, directors, employees, agents, shareholders, affiliates, suppliers, distributors and advertising agencies from all liability, claims or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages or losses to persons and property which may be sustained in connection with the receipt, ownership or use of the prizes.

Those submitting their pet photos for competition agree to participate in follow up promotional advertising. Declining participation will forfeit category win as well as winner of “Pet Idol.”

Contest entrants agree to abide by the terms of these Official Rules and by the decisions of the contest commissioners, which are final on all matters pertaining to the contest.

The contest and all of the related pages, contents and codes belong solely to The Marshall Democrat-News. Copying or unauthorized use of any materials, trademarks or any other intellectual property without the expressed written consent of its owner is prohibited.

The Marshall Democrat-News, its parent company or subsidiaries are not responsible for Internet crashes or slowdown caused by network congestion, viruses, sabotage, satellite failures, phone line failures, electrical outage, natural disasters or act of man or God.

Each winner is responsible for all federal, state and local taxes and will be required to complete and IRS form W-9.

Employees of The Marshall Democrat-News and their immediate families are not eligible to enter.

This contest is not intended for gambling. If it is determined that a contestant is using the contest for gambling purposes they will be disqualified and reported to authorities.
